You just got beautiful new hardwood flooring installed in your home -- great for you! We know you're excited, but if you want to preserve its beauty then you are going to have to take precautions in order to avoid scratches from forming on your floors. So with that said, here are a few tips to prevent scratches from vandalizing your floor and keep them looking as new as possible -- even if they already have a few years of age in them!

Tip #1: If you have large, immovable furniture, cut out a small piece of cardboard and place it under the furniture's legs. This will do wonders in preventing dents.

Tip #2: If you're buying brand new tables and chairs, be sure to buy ones with rubber pads underneath. Rubber pads work wonders in preventing scratches especially when chairs are moving up and about.

Tip #3: Refrain from dragging furniture and appliances whenever you have to move them. As much as possible, lift the piece of furniture with someone else's assistance. If it's too heavy for you, consider getting a device with wheels to move it.

Tip #4: If you're going to buy a piece of furniture that you're sure to move around a lot, consider getting a variation of it that has wheels attached to the legs.

These are simple tips that you can implement today to take good care of your hardwood floors. With simple maintenance, you can certainly prevent scratches and dents from ruining your brand new installation and keep them beautifying your home for years on end.

When planning your kitchen you may need some design inspiration. Choosing a style can help you make many of your selections, when you know what fits in that design style. Your mother's kitchen cabinets were probably organized with nothing more than a couple of drawers and some basic shelves. Today's cabinets often need to store far more. The good news is that cabinet storage options have expanded tremendously since your mother's era.

Most people, when asked what room would they most like to change in their own home, say they would love to have a designer kitchen. The results of a recent survey showed that the biggest complaints most homeowners had were about space - that everything seemed to be too small, and their worktops were overflowing with appliances.
